Microsoft is enhancing email security within Office 365 with the introduction of a new feature called Unverified Sender. This feature is designed to protect Outlook inboxes by flagging emails that do not comply with DMARC standards.

If your business communicates with clients, vendors, or partners who use Office 365, then failing to comply with DMARC could have serious consequences. Without DMARC compliance, your outbound emails could be marked as suspicious or unsafe, which may harm your email deliverability. This could not only affect your email deliverability with your customers, it could also damage your business’s reputation.

To prevent your emails from being flagged as not safe, they must pass SPF (Sender Policy Framework) or DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) authentication. Additionally, the emails need to be DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance) compliant. If the sender’s identity cannot be verified as DMARC compliant, a notification will be displayed, alerting users that the message may not be safe.

With the increased focus on email security, adopting best practices like DMARC and SPF will help protect your business, build trust with your recipients, and ensure that your communications continue to reach your audience without issue.

At Bytewise IT, we understand the importance of email security and can help your business implement DMARC and SPF to safeguard your communications.
